In late August, it’s everyone’s favorite summertime event, the annual Mayor’s Downtown Celebration.  The entire downtown is closed to all but pedestrian traffic for the thousands of visitors and residents attending the Downtown Celebration.  Since 1996, the Mayor's Downtown Celebration has been held to commemorate the completion of a street, sidewalk and lighting beautification project.  Due to its overwhelmingly positive response, the festival has continued ever since.  Groups, businesses and organizations distribute information, hold contests and giveaways, while bands play everything from Dixieland to Rock and Roll.  Delicious aromas fill the air as our local restaurants and vendors provide all kinds of wonderful food. This event is without a doubt one of the most enjoyable.
