Board of Health
The North Adams Board of Health consists of three members appointed by the Mayor. Members of the Board of Health serve three-year terms and require reappointment by the Mayor. Vacancies occurring on the Board may be filled in the same manner, but only for the balance of an unexpired term.
The Board of Health is responsible for protecting, promoting, and preserving the health and well-being of all residents of the City of North Adams. Consistent with Massachusetts General Laws, state and local regulations, and local ordinances, the Board of Health is held responsible for disease prevention and control; health and environmental protection and promoting a healthy community. The Board of Health serves as the local extension of both the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
