Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire (CCNB)
The Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire consists of twelve members representing Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, Hancock, Lanesborough, New Ashford, North Adams, Monroe, Savoy, and Williamstown. Two members of the council, representing the City of North Adams, are appointed by the mayor. The North Adams members of the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire serve three-year terms and require reappointment by the mayor. Vacancies occurring on the Council may be filled in the same manner, but only for the balance of an unexpired term.
As a Local Cultural Council (LCC) designated by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire is the responsible for regranting MCC funds to individuals and organizations for projects in the arts, humanities and interpretive science. LCCs award grants to support a broad range of cultural activities including field trips. The funds are awarded to a school, a town department, an organization, or an individual.
The Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire (CCNB) regrants funds from the Mass Cultural Council to individuals and organizations for projects in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences. Grants of up to $2,000 are available for community projects. A single grant of $1,000 is also awarded to one or more "individual artists" in the communities represented by CCNB.
