Board of Registrars of Voters
The North Adams Board of Registrars of Voters consists of the City Clerk and three members appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the City Council. The members must represent the two leading political parties, and no more than two members may represent the same political party. The City Clerk need not be enrolled in any political party, but if enrolled Members of the Board of Registrars of Voters serve three-year terms and require reappointment by the Mayor and confirmation by the City Council. Vacancies occurring on the Board may be filled in the same manner, but only for the balance of an unexpired term.
The North Adams Board of Registrars of Voters is responsible for conducting city elections in a fair and impartial manner. This includes maintaining accurate lists of registered voters, accepting and certifying nomination papers and initiative or referendum petitions, processing absentee and mail in voter applications and ballots, and tallying and certifying election results.
