Planning Board

The North Adams Planning Board consists of nine members appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the City Council. Members of the Planning Board serve five-year terms and require reappointment by the Mayor and confirmation by the City Council. Vacancies occurring on the Board may be filled in the same manner, but only for the balance of an unexpired term.

The North Adams Planning Board is responsible for guiding growth and development in the community in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L c. 41 and relevant city ordinances. The Planning Board reviews and approves site plans and acts as the special permit granting authority for the City of North Adams. The Board also acts as an advisory body on other municipal land use, development, and planning regulations.
